Creative Direction
Let me help you with the big ideas. Through brainstorming we’ll come up with a creative strategy and concepts for effective growth.
Branding
Including communications audits, product or business naming, visual strategy and everything from logo development to the design of all materials.
Working with Others
If you’ve got more than design on your mind, I can bring together a team of photographers, web designers and communications professionals to meet your needs.
Building your brand
A well thought out brand strategy will help build your brand and is a foundation to achieving your business goals. The strategy is usually big picture and flexible. Your branding will touch all areas of the business.
People are human and want to interact. Good branding helps customers recognise how you are different and that you offer something they want or need.
Branding
Part of the branding process is to uncover as much rational and emotional information as possible. This includes:
- your background/story
- what you do (products, services, features)
- your ideal client
- your key messages (benefits to your client, values)
- your personality and voice
How I work
- A- APPROACH: Together we discover the parameters of your branding project.
- B- BRIEF: I write a creative brief that distills the information provided and
clarifies the key details that will inform, and be used to judge, the
design. - C- CREATE: This is when the magic happens! Research leads to thinking,
sketching and producing concepts ready to present to you.
Feedback informs revisions and the final layout is signed off. - D- DELIVER: Artwork for the project is delivered ready for launch. Files
are supplied and also archived ready for retrieval, if
required, in the future.
Benefits of working this way
Meeting face to face (or virtually) helps me ask questions, tease out information and bring focus and insight to your brand strategy. Each brand strategy is different, together we’ll find solutions to help achieve your goals. You’ll walk away with a brand you are proud of and design files you can use.
Visual Audit
This is a great tool to take an objective look at your existing business or organisation through your customers’ eyes. See how you appear in the physical and digital world. It can show any glaring inconsistencies in your branding or if it’s time for a rebrand. Recently it helped a business see their brand colours weren’t resonating with their target audience and the tweaks required to fix it.
Experienced public sector designer
Jane has been designing for the public sector since 2000. She understands that public sector projects are different because:
- of accountability to rate payers and tax payers
- projects are often community-based and grassroots which can require accessible design and different languages
- it’s about communicating information rather than driving sales
- things take time to get through the approvals and sign-off processes
- projects can be political and perceptions may influence design decisions.
“Jane has done work for us on the Wellington Regional Growth Framework and has been wonderful to work with. Not only is she creative but also hugely responsive to our many requests for changes to documents and maps. We continue to work with her on the next stage of the project.”
Kim Kelly – Project Director, Wellington Regional Growth Framework at Local government , central government and iwi in the Wellington-Horowhenua region
Projects include:
- Communications audits, visual strategy and rebranding
- Regulatory documents like Annual Reports and Statements of Intent
- Infographics
- Document design of infosheets, brochures, newsletters and reports
- Interior design and signage
- Promotional work including posters, invites and social media tiles.
I can provide both brand strategy advice (link to brand strategy section of this page) or be a virtual “in-house” designer and custodian of existing brand guidelines. My well organised document management system means I can easily retrieve that job we worked on five years ago so we don’t have to start from scratch for a similar project.
“I love the way you work!”
“Thank you for all of your helpful responsive service”
“Thank you for your professional approach and the quality of your work.”
